Teaching Statistics

I had the absolute pleasure of completing TS1 which was a half year A Level Stats CPD that was some of the best maths specific PD I have had. I did it alongside one of my colleagues Shane, and we had a great time getting more comfortable with stats each week and then meeting other teachers in the in person events.

As part of the final assignment we chose to create resources we could take back to the department based on each of the questions we were asked to complete.

Here is a link to a pdf of all the resources we made and the PPT

Resource 1: Probability from Venn Diagrams

Wanted to create a resource with loads of set notation practice and get students used to potential algebraic probabilities. Also nice extension with triple venn diagrams.

Resource 2: Simple Binomial Probabilities

Simple probabilities from two different binomial distributions, lots of practice but each question thinking about how the inequality has changed and how that would affect our answer.

Resource 3: Hypothesis Testing

All of the things you need to practice Hypothesis testing, questions mainly taking from textbooks/resources just creating a structure where students need to do all the things

The table doesn’t photograph well so its in the pdf here

Resource 4: Probability Distributions

Not a topic that we found lots of resources for so we had a great time putting these together.

Please do let me/Shane know if you end up using/liking any of these!

Thanks for reading
