UKMT+

I am a massive believer in students (and everyone else!) attempting UK Maths Challenge questions. There are massive benefits to using them as problem solving resources during various schemes of work and they are a great way to bring all the skills you have learned into a fun crescendo whilst trying out unusual puzzles along the way!

My only issue tends to be that sometimes the questions can feel quite isolated from each other – if you struggle with a question and then learn how to solve it there aren’t similar questions with which to hone that problem solving technique. In an attempt to remedy this we have started to create UKMT+ worksheets which start from UKMT questions and give you a chance to practise and extend that new skill.

Below are links to worksheets which build on each of the pictured UKMT questions that allow students to practise and extend similar questions. Let us know your thoughts!

What does UKMT do already?

One of the amazing things that UKMT do as part of their Maths Challenges is that they release investigation questions alongside the solutions. An example of which can be seen below. The worksheets above are designed to make the questions and extensions more accessible to students and can be used either as interesting purposeful practise or as feedback after a specific UKMT paper.

It’s also an absolute goldmine for interesting purposeful practice. One of my favourite way of creating resources…
